The story So Far

The found mine of Phandelver has be cleared, barring an annoying green skull that won’t stay dead. You’re adventures in the Wave Echo Cave will now fall into legend, but it was certainly nip and tuck. You once again faced the undead green flamed skull, but it was swatted aside. Why won’t that thing stay dead? A cavern with 3 Bugbears and a Drow beckoned and you once again split the party and threw some illusory ochre jellies their way. The Bugbears were slaughtered, but the Drow slipped away. Then, to what would be the final showdown; Gundren Rockseeker strides into a large columned hall, and he’s immediately attacked by 2 Bugbears who seem keen on thwacking an illusion. They are called off by a voice from a hidden source. Battle is joined, our intrepid party wades in. Unseen they have webs thrown at them by giant spiders and Grom is subjected to a suggestion spell that forces him to run away. Our magic using foe is revealed and takes one hell of a battering killing him swiftly. The fading footsteps of Grom pause then start to get louder. What you thought was a badly beaten dwarf morphs into a grey featureless humanoid, joining the fray. Some spider webs hit their targets some miss. Jarpetto cuts Grom free from a web. The doppelganger is felled after an attack. Now the spiders start biting and our heros begin to fall. Cole’s down but stable, shame, one of his special chromatic orbs would go down well now. Vald is paralysed and dying, where’s a shatter when you need one. Jarpetto’s out and the poison’s getting to him. No more illusory dwarfs and ochre jellies. Even a Norman Collier- esque Gundren illusion would be welcome now. The Bugbears are down after a tit for tat whacking match with Grom. Grom is down to his last reserves, when a spider fires a web at him to try to incapacitate him. He dodges, and with one blow cleaves it’s thorax in two. All is quiet, three of the company are paralysed on the floor, two at deaths door. One potion of healing. It goes to Vald, who’s now stable. Then the most extraordinary act of the entire adventure, Grom gets down and licks the Gnome Illusionist’s wounds and spider bites. Three times he tries until he manages to successfully remove the poison from Jarpetto’s bite wound and leave him stable.

After some time recovering in the now quiet dungeon, you investigate the last locked room where you find an injured but alive Nundro Rockseeker. In various states of health you make your way cautiously back to Phandalin and retire to the Stonehill Inn.

You’re back at the Stonehill Inn and after a good night’s sleep and a good feed, you feel immeasurably better. Phandalin in noticeably busier than the last time you were here even though it’s been barely a week. There’s a few new faces and a bustle and positivity to the town that just wasn’t there before. Business is brisk, and you are being made quite a fuss of, although most people are a little wary of approaching and talking to you directly the people that you know from your previous experience here are talkative and have inquired very politely as to your exploits.

Right Now…

You’re sat round a corner table in the common room of the Inn nursing drinks with a full jug of ale awaiting you in the centre of the table, empty plates are being collected by one of Toblen’s helpers…..
