How old do I have to be? Can I join if I’m aged 16?
Unfortunately members must be aged 18 or over. This is due to the venues we use and the group organisers being unable to accept responsibility for minors (which legally is anyone below the age of 18).
Does it cost anything to join? Is it free?
Joining and participating in the group itself is free; we have no membership fees. The emphasis is always on letting people try new things out; but it is considered polite to bring your own equipment (such as dice, pen, paper, books etc) after a couple of sessions in a new game / campaign.

We do ask on occasions for donations towards running costs of the group – but this completely optional.

Do I need Rulebooks / Dice / Equipment when I join?
If you are new to the group then no. We do not expect you to bring your own items for the first five sessions though you are welcome to bring any that you own. Generally after a couple of sessions, it is polite / good manners to invest in your own rulebooks and equipment. The emphasis is let you try something new to see if you enjoy it first. If you have any questions or problems you should let a group organiser know.
What should I bring to my first session?
There are not any set requirements: but we suggest bring in a pen, pencil and something to write on (be it paper or electronic) and some money to feed yourself / buy drinks for yourself.
Do I need to have a Meetup website account?
Yes. This is a requirement for joining the group. We manage all sign ups and attendance on the Meetup website. If you do not indicate your attendance on the Meetup website there may not be a space available for you when you arrive.
Do I have to live in South West London to join?
No, despite the name we will accept people from other areas: however the requirement is that you must able to travel and reach Putney weekly.
What sessions can I join?
As long as you give plenty of notice of your attendance, most sessions are opened to new first time members (with a few exceptions). You should check event descriptions for more details. Generally, a group organiser will also help you select and get started for your first session.
What are newcomer nights? How often do they happen?
Newcomer nights are specially for new first time members. On these nights, new first time members actually have priority over existing members in terms of spaces for games. You will need to check the event description to see which are newcomer nights or use this website search to check. Generally, a group organiser will also help you select and get started for your first session.

Newcomer nights are generally organised depending on the number of new applicants / members we have.

How long are the sessions? Do I have to stay the whole time?
Game sessions usually run for between three to four hours.

If you are playing in a campaign, you generally shouldn’t leave early every week: but exceptions can be made depending on your Game Master (GM) and you should speak to them, or a group organiser, at the earliest opportunity.

Do I have to come every week? My work schedules always changes so I can’t come every week: can I still join?
The answer depends on what games you are playing:

We have standalone one-shots games as well as drop-in drop-out campaigns which isn’t affected if you cannot attend the following week.

If you are playing in a regular campaign then it is generally expected that you will be there there for most / the majority of weeks. However, exceptions can be made depending on your Game Master (GM) and you should speak to them, or a group organiser, at the earliest opportunity. Some of our members need to travel away every few weeks or work a constantly changing shift pattern: but we have still managed to fit them into campaigns.

And there’s the age old saying that “Real Life Comes First”: we know and understand this, so please speak to a group organiser if you have any problems.

Will you ever meet on a weekend?
At the moment, this is very unlikely to happen. We are mainly a weekday group due to various others commitments many of our members have during the weekend.
Do you hold RPG sessions online (through voice chat etc)?
At the moment, we do not regular hold sessions online and are unlikely to do so in the near future. However, if you are interested in running activities online, please speak to a group organiser.
